Boston Harbor Islands State Park Guest Review submitted by: island rat Rating: Four Gold Leaves. Very good.
Boston Harbor Islands State Park offers unique and primitive campgrounds. Diverse environments allow assigned-site or field-style camping. U.S. fort structures from the Civil War period to World War II give fantastic sights, one-of-a-kind picture opportunities and a history lesson. You'll encounter some interesting wildlife including a huge rabbit population on an uninhabited island. Take the Boston Harbor Cruises ferry to the park, then unlimited free travel among the islands is provided by water taxis. If you've got access to a private craft, it may be docked, for day use only, on George's Island; beached; or anchored offshore for all other island access and camping. Camping permits are required, and a fee is charged. Call (617) 727-7676 for reservations and information. |
